I saw this video and it immediately reminded me of the time I told Matt that he was not a “Single Lady”. This little kid actually cried less than Matt did though.

Like Matt, I absolutely love Glee.  It’s one of those shows that was on my radar long before it premiered, and it didn’t disappoint.  The cast is overall very strong, and the lead Lea Michele is fantastic.  I think it was a bold and risky choice for Fox, but it has paid off in a big way.  In fact, the show is so successful and the cross-promotion tie-ins are so endless that they launched a national tour that sold out in seconds.

Unlike Matt, when I try to get tickets to a concert, I don’t have a friend who not only gives me front row seats, but throws in a few joints and backstage passes.  So when I tried to get tickets to the Glee tour, I came up empty-handed, and a little bit crushed.  I could still get tickets through an online resaler, but I’d rather not spend a year’s salary only to be pissed when Don’t Rain on My Parade isn’t sung.

Check out a promo for the back 9 (TV term) episodes of Glee, starting 4/13.  Jane Lynch, the Chicago native, and hilarious lesbian always has something to say.

2 last shout outs:

Happy Birthday Lady Gaga, welcome to the 24 year-old club!

GO GREEN, Michigan State advanced to the Final Four for the 6th time in 12 years!

I came across this story today and I thought it would interest any fans of the almighty musical. The original cast recording of “Me & My Dick” is set to debut at #11 on the Billboard Top Cast Albums chart. It’s a college production so this debut is very noteworthy, for perspective, it is landing right behind the London recording of “Phantom of the Opera”. The play is about a high school student and his relationship with his member.

Given that the production is out of the University of Michigan and I attended rival Michigan State University (think UAlbany vs. Siena, I Googled to find a valid rivalry) I won’t praise it too much. I will say that I watched this first act and was very impressed with what I saw. I really love the pink cap the titular Dick wears. This article mentions that the show may be selected for the upcoming New York International Fringe Festival. Nice job to the college kids that put this on!

I first stumbled upon TED back in 2008 and was immediately interested by their simple motto “ideas worth spreading”.  TED stands for technology, entertainment, and design, all things that draw my attention.  The concept behind TED Talks is to provide “riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world”.  Basically, it’s a bunch of smart people who hold conferences with other smart people, and then they post videos of the talks online for all to enjoy.

What I really like about TED is that the topics can be something so easily palatable or so highbrow that you never really know what you’re going to get.  Another great thing is that all of the videos are under 20 minutes, and they even introduced a new variation of videos under 6 minutes.  I mean, you can actually watch an internet video, and learn something, all in under 6 minutes!  In all seriousness, this site is full of videos that are thought-provoking and worth watching.

Because this is Friday Puppy, I thought it would only be fitting to post a video about vodka dog training.  If you watch this video, you’ll see what I mean about how these talks can really make you think.  If you’re not a fan of listening to intellectuals speak, then you can easily find videos that are simply entertaining, thus freeing up all of your brain power for Tuesday night trivia at Bombers on Lark.

Who would have thought smart people can be as watchable as pretty people?

This past weekend I spent a day at Purdue University with some co-workers for a recruiting event. After the event, we spent some time talking about the general decline of the youth of America.  One of my friends from work mentioned how she heard from another co-worker that teenage girls were soaking their tampons in vodka and inserting them as a way to get drunk.

I immediately Googled this to see who is actually doing this and why.  The most cited reason to sip vodka with your other lips is to avoid having a boozy smell on your breath (think Matt at 9am).  I love that teenagers think that as long as you can’t smell the booze nobody will be able to tell that they’re drunk.

Per Snopes, this is an undetermined urban legend, but I think that some idiots out there are actually doing this.  Have any of you readers heard of this or the male equivilant of anal beer bongs?

As a side note, I tend to believe anything that the handsome Dr. Stork talks about on his show.

Since Matt apparently overindulged last night I thought I could pick up some slack.  If you need a puppy fix, here is  an adorable video of a big great dane puppy versus a hose.  I am not sure if he is French, maybe French Canadian but his name is Henri.  If you just search “puppy versus” on YouTube you get a bunch of these cute videos.

I love UFC.  Call me crazy, but as a complete wimp I find watching these muscled men beat the shit out of eachother absolutely fascinating.  I’m amazed that these fighters can take repeated punches to the face and not cry like Matt on a plane a baby.  I also love watching the weigh-ins that happen the day before each fight.  Over at UFC Live, you can watch all of your favorite fighters strip down to their underpants or, if you’re lucky, even less.  Do we have any Friday Puppy UFC fans out there?

This weekend is UFC 110 in Sydney Australia and I have my money (and eyes) on Cain Velasquez.  For those interested the weigh-in will be streaming live (and free!) at 10pm Eastern tomorrow night at UFC Live.

Did you guys see the video of this poor guy? I mean, obviously this was not the best approach to a proposal, but hockey fans are intense about everything they do.

Argument for Gay Marriage: No gay man would ever do this, not even a gay hockey fan. One less life could have been spared from this public embarrasment.

Do any of you New Yorkers know poor Nick?  I think Matt should give this guy a few boots of beer “on the house”.

The website that posted the video showcases the best of basement web design circa 1992. And there is an “x-rated” twitter feed.

taylor-lautnerI am not sure what exactly the target demographic of Friday Puppy is, so if this post is completely off the wall, please excuse me.

I have only known who Taylor Lautner is for less than a year.  It all happened so fast, I first saw some pictures of this attractive man coming out of the gym with his, ahem, package in full view under his workout outfit (is it technically an outfit?).  Fast forward 3 weeks when I am boarding a plane from Chicago to Detroit and sitting in seat 1A is the new love of my life this talented young actor that I had just found out about.  I casually took my seat while sweating profusely and shaking violently (actors make me nervous).

Once seated and dried off, I proceeded to text every person in my phonebook who would remotely care (sorry about those texts Grandma).  After about 5 minutes the 40-something married man seated next to me asked me who was the celebrity up front, and I pretended to barely know who he was as I went about reading my Tiger Beat with him on the cover.

Once we landed I grabbed my bags from the overhead bin as quickly as I could and proceeded to knock down every Tom, Dick and Jane who was standing between me and the young Mr. Lautner.  Thankfully the married older gentleman next to me asked him for an autograph and picture before me so he was able to break the ice, but I was really upset that he had to make such a point of saying that it was for his daughter.  Way to make me look like a creeper dude.  Once it was my turn to get a photo and autograph I very well looked fresh out of the pool, but I did manage to stammer out my name and hold back my huge grin as to not look too goofy in the picture.

Later that same night I was at a Red Wings game, just hanging out when I again run into Taylor.  This time I happened to be with a 17 year old girl who claimed to be too nervous to go introduce herself (she had no idea what I had just been through on the plane).  So, somewhat selfishly, I walked up to Taylor and asked him if he remembered me from the plane to which he replied that he did.  I then introduced him to my friend and we chatted for about 10 minutes, mostly about being from Michigan and the Red Wings.  In the end, I shook his hand and creepily mentioned that I couldn’t wait to see more of him.

I figured this story was fitting since today, Taylor Lautner turned 18 and I can officially announce the fact that he makes my heart flutter.  I don’t feel bad about being excited to witness his passing into adulthood, I mean, straight guys counted down to the Olsen twins’ 18th birthday for like 5 years.  Do we have any other Taylor Lautner fans that read Friday Puppy?

Happy 18th Birthday Taylor Lautner From Your Fans - The music in this YouTube makes the entire thing worth watching.

With Super Bowl Sunday being one of the biggest pop culture events on the planet, I thought it would only be fitting to provide my view on Super Bowl Sunday’s most exciting event, the Puppy Bowl.

Do any of you Friday Puppy readers watch the Puppy Bowl?  According to Wikipedia (the best source for any information), over 8 million people watch this amazing concoction of cuteness, cuddliness and pure athleticism.  This year was a Puppy Bowl like no other, it was Puppy Bowl VI.  I have been a fan of the Puppy Bowl since college, when my roommate and I stumbled upon it (we were most likely drunk).

In the interest of filling up an entire post, let me list what exactly it is that I love about the Puppy Bowl:

1.  They are all pound puppies.  What a fun way for a puppy to spend the day, take a break from the chain link box they live in and get out to play with some other pups.

2.  They have a nice mix of all breeds and they tell you what kind of puppy they are.  I love seeing a dog and then trying to determine what breed they are, I do the same thing with our very own Friday Puppies!

3.  They have cute facts about the puppies that make me laugh, take Jersey Boy for instance, this 12 week old Maltese/Yorkie mix loves The Jersey Shore.

4.  The puppies are completely unaware that they are providing the cutest entertainment on the planet.  They bite, poop, pee and act a fool for the cameras and they do it with such a sweet innocence that I can’t help but love them all.

5.  I love picking my favorite dog of the group and cheering for them.  This year, Carson an 11 week old German Shepherd mix stole my heart.  I am drinking hot tea all day to sooth my throat from all of the cheering that I did for my little buddy Carson.

Let me quickly get through my list of dislikes about the Puppy Bowl:

1.  The kitty half-time show, WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.  Enough said.

So what do you guys think?  Did you watch the Puppy Bowl?  Did you like it?  Did you have a favorite puppy?  OMG, I am dying to know.
