Another reason why I love NYC.
I walk down the street this morning to have a late breakfast at Cafe Cluny, (my regular breakfast spot when I’m not eating at Miss Albany Diner). I walk in the door and say to the host, “Hi, one for breakfast. and wipe that look of pity off your face.” (it’s not my fault everyone else works normal day jobs)… so the guy says to the hostess, “table 8 please.” and she walks me back towards table 8.

Table 8 is in the corner with a chair for one person that actually faces the corner. No way. So I said to the hostess, “would you mind if I sit over there in the window? She gave me a look like, “really?” I wanted to be like, “Lady, do you know who I am??? I write Friday Puppy goddamnit. DO NOT cross me. (pause. sigh). I’m sorry. I’m stressed. I’ll take the corner. Please don’t ask me to leave. I love your avocado and egg sandwich.”
But she moved me to the window table and I complimented her hair and now we’re BFs.
Anyway, as I’m sitting in the window checking my phone over and over and over so it looks like I’m important and not lonely, I see Seth Myers from Saturday Night Live walking past the window down West 4th Street. I was like, “holy shit, that’s Seth Meyers. He’s funny.” about 20 seconds pass and I hear “Hi [so and so], sorry I’m late.” Seth Meyers is now sitting at the table next to me. He came to have some business meeting with some blonde lady, who apparently is important because she ran the meeting. She was like, “I’m gonna get you this, and you need to do this, and then we’ll get you to MC this.” I was like, damn, this lady is a Lioness. Apparently, there’s an awards show coming up that she wants him to host.
So I finish my Weekend Update Breakfast Sandwich and I head to the gym, and who’s on the treadmill next to me? You guessed it. Kyan Douglas (the “Grooming” guy from Queer Eye For the Straight Guy). Weird.
It was quite a day of gay A list celebrity sightings in NYC.

Matt, you are a celebrity too. I was buying art supplies today and the ladies in there were talking about Friday Puppy and how they’ve never met you but they are sure you are strikingly handsome etc. I can’t remember all of the details but the blog gets around :)

I need to hang in NYC with you! I never see anyone famous when I go, and I am there once a month for work!!! The only not famous person I have seen when in NYC is Taylor Hicks (vomit in my mouth) and there were all these teenage girls and their fat mothers screaming (and probably wet in their panties) outside of the broadway theater where he was performing in Grease. A co-worker and I couldn’t figure out who in the world they were dying for, then when we saw him we were like “they were screaming for him, give me a f**king break”. Why can’t I see Alicia Keys, John Mayer or Josh Harnett?????

@name not jenna… I just saw Grease with Taylor Hicks at Protors in schnectady and he did a cd signing afterwards. Total of ten people in line!! Guess he is just loved in NYC not upstate!

I met Seth Meyers on the Subway one time, really nice guy, so down to earth. Since he’s so small he’s not intimidating to talk to. That is the great thing about NYC, you can be anywhere and see someone famous……. that and the 50000 bars to go to.
