The video is a little shoddy, but here is some video of the USA vs. Honduras soccer game last Saturday night at Wolff’s Biergarten. The game was MASSIVE and the crowd was ummmm…. excited. We (USA) beat Honduras, which means we’ll be in the 2010 World Cup Tournament!!
If you’ve never been to Wolff’s when a big game is going on, you HAVE to. It’s total craziness in the best possible way.
Haha. It’s like that Saturday Night Live where they do Oprah’s Favorite Things and the studio audience goes totally ape shit.
(so funny, here it is. Thank’s Mark M…..

It was an amazing time! Thanks again for putting it together. The staff was great too.
USA v Costa Rica at 8pm tonight at Wolff’s. USA needs to win in order to win the group and to have an outside chance of getting seeded by FIFA in the 2010 WC.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Charlie Davies and his family along with the other people affected by this tragic accident.
Wow. That was just as loud as I remember it being. Great time.
Doesn’t it feel good to be able to spell out “apeshit”?
@ Steve Barnes…fuck yeah.
Looks like a lot of fun! I’ll have to make it to some WC matches next summer.
I have to admit, hearing the U-S-A chants made me feel like I was watching Fox News or something… I wish we had actual songs to sing/chant instead.
After reading comments # 4 & 5 – now I know why you left the TU bogosphere!!
Best of luck on your new endeavor.

“JULIA ROBERTS told me about these, she is a big turkey lover and JULIA ROBERTS told me nobody does turkey like GREEN HOUSE SMOKED TURKEY! “
omg, that is awesome matt!
My first time at Wolff’s happens to be when the US is in a World Cup Qualifying match, didn’t even know Albany was only one of a few cities in the nation able to televise the game. Thanks for that Matt! Nothing beats trying to order a Spaten for me and my mom while simultaneously trying to protect her from raving soccer drunks. Great game, great beer, great company.
~Warmest thought for Davies (#9), his family, and the other victims of such a terrible accident. Feel better soon Charlie, we need ya.
@Ellsass. I agree, songs/chants would be nice. I tried starting some simple ones like “Glory, Glory Stars and Stripes” and “When the Yanks Go Marching In”, but only a few people caught on. Recently, Sam’s Army has started official “Brigades”, which are basically local chapters of the club. You only need 10 people to be a recognized Brigade. It’d be great if we could organize an Albany Brigade, potentially with Wolff’s as our HQ. Members could organize before the event and plan out songs and chants. It could make the already awesome environment at these games even better.
