I got a phone call from Rebecca Isenhart, a Columbia High School student, who writes a blog for the Times Union. She asked me if could send her a playlist that is currently on my iPod, so I did.
Click Here to read the story… otherwise, here’s what I sent to her:
“These days, I need to relax . So the following mix is a playlist I like to call “Relax”. Clever, right? They are all pretty much folky, guitar driven songs with a lot of harmony. I’m a sucker for harmony. (and burritos).
Some of the songs are old. Some are new. None of the songs are borrowed, and none of the songs are blue. But when I listen to this mix, it puts me in a really calm, really good mood.
I hope you enjoy it.”

Nice. I especially like the Red House Painters – best song on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack. Casimir Pulaski Day is so sad, but ends so triumphantly.
Nice list I’ve got some of these on my current list! Here are some others in a similar style that you might like :)
White Daisy Passing
Rocky Votolato

“Ahh Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in.”
Red House Painters?
You are so cool.
Rocky Votolato is great. I would also go with anything from Copeland
I heart you for having Amos Lee, especially that song. *Clink* Cheers!
Nice playlist!
I love, love, LOVE Sugarland’s “Stay”! And knowing the circumstances under which she wrote the song, it always brings a tear to my eye when I’m singing along with her, at the top of my lungs!
Thanks for the shout out, Matt!
Lisa – you should see the video!!!
Oh god I have a live verson of Sugarland’s CD that I listen to all the time and I can’t help but cry when you hear the passion in her voice! The one that is the absolute saddest to me though is Joey. What a song.
what no medeski martin and wood?
