A reader sent me an email the other day that went a little something like this…
A lady that works for my husband is giving away puppies for free. I believe she took the mother dog in as a rescue situation. They are a labrador/retriever mix, and are about 3-4 weeks old.
John is willing to transport the puppy or puppies from Plattsburgh to Bennington. If you are interested, please let me know. The pups will be put down if they are not adopted.
a. Who’s John?
b. They’re going to be “put down” if they’re not adopted??? um, what? That’s crazy talk. Who’s not gonna adopt a yellow lab/ golden retriever mix. That’s like the equivalent of the Gerber Baby not being adopted.
c. And who’s gonna “put” them “down” if they’re not adopted… that guy John?? I don’t like him.

I hope this isn’t a prank too bc I just emailed her that I want to take one. Dave will most likely kill me but Ella Laine has been wanting a puppy since she could talk and I’m finally ready for another dog after Cassie’s passing in 2002. So Mateo you will have a small fun visitor up at camp (I hope) if all goes weell and it’s not a prank. Please don’t be a prank.
There is NO WAY these puppies will not be adopted.

I own a doggie daycare in Plattsburgh and would like to see if you would want to come by and put up a flyer for the puppies. I will also help any other way I can to help find the puppies homes.

I got this email from a friend and she funneled the calls and told me they were all adopted yesterday.

Yes this is a hoax as the other reader says, may I suggest that you take it down rather than perpetuating one of these.
The snopes link didn’t work for me, but I just searched their site for golden and there it was, same picture, same story.

I had a retriever lab mix that was jet black and he was the best dog ever. Rest in Peace Brett.

Aparently they have been adopted. That’s what the girl at the radio station said. Or is it REALLY a hoax. If so DAMN THEM!
Sad that people start this hoax (if it really is) when there are thousands of dogs who really do need homes out there.
