In 1996 I pierced my tongue.

In 1996 I removed my tongue piercing because I chiseled away my top and bottom canine teeth by biting on it and my dentist said I was ruining my mouth.  Plus, I was working in the accounting department at General Electric and one of my coworkers said it would hurt my chances for promotion.

The timing of my tongue piercing was a little off because 1996 was a slow sexual year for me, and the only people who really got to benefit from my tongue piercing was Ben & Jerry.  I was very fat in 1996.  All I ate was ice cream, hot dogs covered in processed cheese, and tuna sandwiches made with so much mayonnaise it resembled soup.

In 2004 I pierced both my ears.  Not just one ear, because that’s so gay,  but both.  I  went to Lark Vegas on Lark Street in Albany, NY and had them put 2 hoops in my ears.  I thought I was the coolest person on earth.   My friend Brian told me that it looked too “upstate” so I upgraded them to diamond studs, which I was hoping would make me look more Timberlake than upstate.

Last week, in 2010 and at the age of 36, I said to my 28 year old bf, “I think I’m gonna put my earrings back in”, and without hesitation he went, “really?” and made this really annoying face.  As if I said, “I think I’m gonna buy an IROC.”  I guess he feels that I should act my age, and ditch the earrings idea.  And buy a caravan.  And drink prune juice.  What ever.  But now that I think about it, maybe I will buy an IROC, and put my diamond studs back in, and then we’ll see who’s acting their age when y’all hear me pumping Rob Base’s “It Takes Two” down Central looking all sexyback.

Moving on…

For all my piercing needs, I have always gone to Lark Vegas on Lark Street in Albany, NY.  This reader’s prize might be catering to a very select few, but that’s ok.  This week we are giving away a $50 Gift Certificate to Lark Vegas, compliments of owner Rebecca Hatfield.  (Thank you, Rebecca!).

Lark Vegas is a super cool, very funky, retro style piercing parlor, and this piercing could make you, or the person you’re having sex with, very happy.

If you’re interested in winning this $50 Gift Certificate, be the 28th commenter on this blog post.

Happy piercings!

UPDATE:  Congratulations to Tammy P who won this week’s Puppy Prize!  Tammy, I am expecting to see photos of the piercing after it’s done so we can put it up on the blog.  Yes, you commented twice, but you’ve earned it for being such a great commenter in the past.

I’m thinking nipple pierce.

  16. kriskaten says:

i’ll pierce something else, why not? my tongue piercing closed up when i got a ‘real’ job, but now i work for the state so that kind of stuff doesn’t matter. although, after the 3 week diet of raman noodles i don’t think i’d pierce THAT again! there’s plenty of other things, though… :)

  17. Slacker says:

Oh, go ahead, put them back in (and really? one earring = gay? I need to reevaluate the way I match the earring to my glasses now) and instead of the IROC, go with the El Camino with the flames.

Check out The Tattoo Learning Center in Rotterdam!! Lisa did mine and she is the BEST!
