Aug 30

Attention beer lovers and  wurstoholics.

Okotberfest 2010 in North Albany (in front of Wolff’s Biergarten) has been scheduled for Saturday, October 2nd.   (originally, we were going to have it on September 18th, but we changed so as not compete with Irish Fest and the Warrior Dash.  You’re welcome, Irish Fest.)  And YES, I realize we had a billboard up advertising September 18th.  We had to take it down, and pay a small fortune to have them change the sign.

Anyway, the plan this year is similar to last year’s Oktoberfest, only bigger.

This year, the first 2,000 people who show up will receive a complimentary 1.0 liter Wolff’s beer stein.  If you already have one (or 8) from one of the World Cup Block parties, bring it with you and you will get a $2 discount at the door for recycling. (thank you.)

There will be a kids section, like last year, but sans the pony.  Turns out, ponies don’t love driveways.  Instead, we’re going to have a bunch of carnival games and face painters and root beer keg stands for the kids.  (not really).

This year, Oktoberfest 2010 will be featuring a Miss Oktoberfest competition.   (details to be anounced.  And it’s not your typical “beauty” contest.  We prefer a lady who can tap a keg.)

Live music, tons of german food, delicious German beers on draft, pouring out of 2 huge beer trucks.

Tickets are $7 at the door, or $5 in advance at Wolff’s Biergarten.   OR… $5 if you bring your Wolff’s Biergarten 1.0 liter mug from the World Cup Block Party.

(If you would like to volunteer for this event (and receive a $50 Wolff’s Gift Certificate, a T-shirt, and one of those uncomfortable hugs from me), please send an email to WolffsBiergarten@gmail.com We could use volunteers for positions such as bartenders, security, site maintenance, general set up / breakdown, etc.  However, please keep in mind that if you would like to bartend, you will be required to wear your own dirndl or lederhosen.)

More details to follow, I just wanted to give you all a heads up so you can RSVP: NO to any weddings you might have been invited to on that date.

Damnit, last year I missed it due to an annual training and now that it’s switched, missing it again, TO THE SAME TRAINING!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Jeff says:

  7. Chris says:

  8. The Original Colleen says:

Oh geez; I’m already signed up to go to an All Day cardmaking event. We will be making cards for the Military so they can send correspondence home to their loved ones…maybe I can come by later and help clean up; like I did last year because hardly anyone was helping you.

  9. DB says:

    1) instead my own mug, can I bring my own tap?
    2) where can I get some sweet lederhosen? Remember it has to show off my huge gut

My husband finds nothing funny about “octoberfest” About 8yrs ago, my family decided we should go to “octoberfest” and my sister was sure it was at Hunter Mountain. So, there’s 8 of us in a 7 passenger minivan, smelling brake dust all the way to Hunter Mt, when it dawns on my sister that the Octoberfest was in Lake George. There was a really crappy craft fair going on at Hunter, and NO BEER! I don’ t think he’ll fall for another promise of an “Octoberfest” again. I’ll do my best to tell him its someting else..

Same day as Race for the Cure – Guess I’ll raise money for breast cancer then celebrate with some German beer!

  12. G says:

Sooooo excited!!!! Yay, now we can attend! We love, love, love your Biergarten!

  13. The original September date was on Yom Kippur. Luckily, on October the 2nd, I shall not be required to fast. I thank you, sir.

  14. Oh Nooooo!!!!!! I have a wedding to go to on October 2nd :-(

I’ve been looking forward to this since last year’s Oktoberfest.

….Does this mean that since I can’t make the “public” Oktoberfest, I get a private Oktoberfest on my birthday (October 19) with Colleen, Colleen’s Mom, Tammy, Edna, Gerard, Darrin, Matt B, and anyone else who wants to join?

  15. Tammy P says:

@14 – I’ll be there, as long as you’re there for mine on the 17th. :)

  16. G-Dawg says:

@14 you bet I would be there, it would be great to see you it’s been a long time since we all got together.

  17. G-Dawg says:

    @15 sure I can do the 17th too ! !

  18. Helen says:

My Bday is October 19th too – can I crash your party?

Plus I like the rescheduled Oktoberfest date b/c I had two weddings to go to on the 18th

See everything works out eventually :)

  19. DMF says:

@ 14, 15, 16… I’m in… Just let me know the time…. It has been Way too long since I have seen any of your beautiful faces !!!!!

  20. Tammy P says:

October is going to be FUN!

  21. jen says:

: ( I work that Saturday..I bartend every other Saturday and that’s one that I am working….push it ahead a week, pleeeeease : ) ha

  22. Edna says:

I cant wait to see all of you either! Im having technical difficulties with the volunteer site but count me in! PROSIT!

  23. Tammy – I’d be willing to do a combined party (that’s huge for me…I’ve never shared my birthday with anyone before ;-). I’ve actually made women cross their legs on Halloween until midnight so that I wouldn’t have to share my birthday month :-p. I kid, I kid!

Regardless, there will be much debauchery for our Geburtstagen, Bier, und Wurst.

AND!!! Spaten Oktoberfest is now available…I just got a 12 pack this afternoon!!!! It’s a tad early, but I don’t mind, hehe. It’s such a shame that it’s not available year-round. It’s totes my fave.

    Prost!!!

  24. The Original Colleen says:

Count me and mom in for whatever is planned; I miss you all terribly!

  25. I shall start an event on Facebook for the Tammy and Matt Birthday Extravaganza.

  26. Tammy P says:

    Sweet!

  27. Danie says:

Perfect! This will help make mine and my brother’s birthday weekend!!!! We’ll be there the night before for the actual birthday bash and follow up with this great event!!!

  28. GenWar says:

Actually, I have a wedding the weekend before and a wedding the weekend after but no wedding that weekend :)

I just have to talk the wife out of the trip to the Apple Festival :(

  29. KELLIE says:

This is perfect, because it is the weekend after I return from legit Oktoberfest in Munchen. ( How do you make an umlaut on a keyboard? ) Regardless. Very excited. Considering wearing a dirndl so I can be the only tattooed woman in one. haha.

  30. Andrea says:

So what about this Miss Oktoberfest contest?
